Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir's 'won't forget it' threat on Jammu and Kashmir prompted an acerbic reaction from India, with New Delhi asking Pakistan to return the 'illegally occupied lands,' or Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan Army Head General Asim Munir's "won't forget it" warning on Jammu and Kashmir drew a bitter response from India, with New Delhi on Thursday declaring that the Union Territory belongs to India, while requesting Pakistan to vacate the "illegally occupied territories," i.e., Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
"How can something external enter a jugular vein? This is an Indian union territory. Its only connection to Pakistan is the vacationing of illegally occupied areas by Pakistan," The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. "We have made it our jugular vein, it is our jugular vein. We will never forget it. We will never abandon our Kashmiri brothers in their victorious struggle," Munir declared, provoking harsh condemnation by Delhi. Munir added and announced that the "basic differences between Hindus and Muslims" are those that gave birth to the Islamic Republic.
"Our forefathers used to think that we were distinct from the Hindus in every walk of life. We are different in religion. Our customs are different. Our modes of life are different. Our thoughts are different. Our aspirations are different. That was the basis of the Two-Nation Theory. It was based on the belief that we are two nations, not one," General Munir told the Convention of Overseas Pakistanis on Wednesday.
